In the fraught and historically charged work Stock (2011) a residue of human hair is trapped between the wall and timeworn shower nozzles. Disquietingly and startlingly direct in character the work alludes to the dark history of exclusion based on scientifically informed processes of measurement and normalization of the human body.
Mounted on the wall at the exact height of the head of a human and placed in even and clear distance from each other, the four objects address the viewer as individual. As if in a face-to-face dialog they invite us to share the perspective of the victim of discrimination.
